MOUNT HOLLY — Each night from fall to spring, a neighborhood near Buttonwood Lake becomes like a scene out of Alfred Hitchcock's famous horror movie "The Birds." Hundreds of menacing vultures swoop into trees in yards off Branch Street, Cripps Drive and nearby streets to roost for the night. As dusk comes, you can hear them landing on branches, battling for position and flapping their wings as they fly back and forth finding a perfect spot to settle in for the night. They leave behind broken branches and droppings all over yards, streets, sheds, vehicles, and houses. They create an eerie sight.
